So many of us have had talk therapy but found ourselves stuck in the same patterns. That was true for me too. While I had shifted some important beliefs about myself and gained awareness around my past, I still didn't feel safe in my body. Thinking differently didn't necessarily change the way I was feeling. I began to realize healing trauma isn't only about changing your thoughts. Trauma also lives within the nervous system and the body. The anxiety, emotional overwhelm, shutdown, hyper vigilance and protective patterns we experience are often the body's way of trying to keep us safe. The beautiful thing is our bodies have so much wisdom to communicate with us when we learn how to listen. Through somatic healing, nervous system regulation, and gentle awareness, we can begin creating safety from the inside out. Not by forcing ourselves to "move on," but by reconnecting with the parts of ourselves that have been carrying so much for so long.
